I don’t know where July went, but I realized that it was August and I hadn’t done this yet. I’m really enjoying doing this as a bit of a reflection process on the past month!

This month was quite the month for Dylan and I. We packed up our belongings, left everyone we knew behind and moved to Nova Scotia. We drove cross country, which was something that I had wanted to do for a long time, but oh boy if we do it again I sure hope we can do some things differently. Like not getting sick halfway through our journey. 😉 It was a great experience though, and boy is Canada ever pretty.

The rest of the photos are fairly standard, I think – though I have to say that birthday pie was delicious. We bought the Deep N Delicious Cookies and Cream pie and froze it…it was basically ice cream cake. Mmmm.

We also bought ourselves a plant, though I have no idea what kind of plant it is (anyone know? Let me know in the comments!). My mom has had one my entire life, so it feels like a little bit of home here with us. We’ve decided to name it Alton Green – we’re big fans of Alton Brown and have been listening to his podcast/watching some of his shows on Food Network lately, so it seemed super fitting.

The final photo is pretty nostalgia inducing for me. It was a throwback to July 2011 when I flew down to Orlando, FL to LeakyCon, which is a fan conference and was one of the best weeks of my life, definitely. I got to meet a whole lot of online friends for the first time, I went to Hogwarts (aka the Wizarding World of Harry Potter), I tasted Butterbeer, and just generally had a fantastic time. LeakyCon is happening right now in Orlando so this week has been a nostalgic one for me. 🙂

What was the highlight of your month?

  1. Sansevieria trifasciata, also called snake plant, mother-in-law’s tongue or Saint George’s sword (in Brazil) is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo.(Wikiedia)
I have always known this kind of plant as a mother-I-laws tongue.
It also said It is now used predominantly as an ornamental plant, outdoors in warmer climates, and indoors as a houseplant in cooler climates. It is popular as a houseplant because it is tolerant of low light levels and irregular watering; during winter it needs only one watering every couple of months. It will rot easily if overwatered. A study by NASA found that it is one of the best plants for improving indoor air quality by passively absorbing toxins such as nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde.
It is a nice plant. Low maintenance and pretty at the same time!

  2. I would love to drive more out east in Canada, I’ve only ever driven to Edmonton, but my husband used to live in Niagra on the lake and i’d love to come explore that end of the country a little more and Nova Scotia has been on our to travel list for a while, Canada has so much to offer I just wish it was easier to travel from one end to the other haha.

    xx Amber
