Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! I celebrated yesterday with some of Dylan’s friends, which was a very good time! But I don’t feel quite right getting back to regular non-Thanksgiving posts today, so I thought I’d keep it simple and do the Beauty Blogger Tag post! I believe Natalie started this one and Sarah did it a few weeks ago, so I thought it’s about time to bring it back.

What was the first makeup item you ever purchased?
Oh man, I have no idea. I remember going makeup shopping with my mom, but I have no idea what we bought. I feel like it might have been eyeshadow?

What colour/type of lipstick is taking over your collection?
Matte’s all day err’y day. I love them so. Also anything dark. Usually reds.

What is the best drug store brand item you have ever purchased?
The Wet’n’Wild Comfort Zone palette, I think. I’ve gotten SO much use out of it and it’s still one of my favourites.

Name one high end item that is at the top of your wishlist and why.
One of Marc Jacobs’ eyeshadow palettes. I don’t even have a specific one that I want but the packaging is SO beautiful and all of the colours are so gorgeous and ahhh it’s just pretty.

Which beauty item do you have a hard time saying “no” to?
Lipsticks are my weakness. Not my only weakness, but certainly my biggest weakness.

Show us a picture of an item from your stash that has the best packaging.
Red Apple Lipstick Review

These Red Apple Lipstick lipsticks are GORGEOUS. They’re incredibly difficult to photograph, though. The bottom half of the bullet is textured and it’s just beautiful. They also have an amazing weight to them.

Which beauty technique would you like to master?
Filling in my eyebrows. I feel like I always do mine a little too dark.

What does your beauty storage station look like? (Share a picture if you’d like)
I’m going to save the photos for another post, but currently I have a couple of small sets of drawers that I keep things in. I bought one off of Amazon that is a great size for storing things that I use on the regular, and then a larger set of drawers from Target that I store samples, beauty products I don’t use often and office supplies. I keep my polishes and manicure supplies in a box I bought from the dollar store that seems to work pretty well for the moment. As for my hair products, well they are kept in the lid of a Luxe Box box, which just makes them feel a little neater on my desk, and my hair dryer, straightener and curling iron are kept in an old milk crate under my desk. I’m not particularly happy with my storage, but it works for now.

What is the best part of being a CBB?
The people! I have loved meeting the other bloggers in the network – they’re all so welcoming and wonderful!

Which brand do you WISH was available in Canada, but isn’t?
Charlotte Tilbury. Ahhh get in my makeup stash already!

Explain your one beauty discovery that totally changed the makeup game for you.
Eye primer. Man, before I started using eye primer I could NEVER figure out how people got their shadows to stay all day.

Pick one palette from your collection – show us a picture of it, and tell us why you LOVE it.

Beauty Bloggers

This is definitely my fanciest eyeshadow palette. It was one of my first higher end products, given to me by Dylan last Christmas. It is definitely one of my most prized makeup possessions! I love everything about this palette – from the packaging (rose gold + that texture + the sturdiness + the huge mirror inside) to the shade range (who knew I would love the pink-tones so much?) to the brush that comes included it is just the perfect palette. You can do so many different looks! Simple every day looks to complex evening looks and everything in between. It is just perfection.

Name some of your favourite youtube beauty gurus.
Essie Button, Amelia Liana, Vivanna Does Makeup, Claire Marshall, Lily Pebbles…apparently I have a thing for UK beauty gurus!

What is your ‘holy grail’ item and why?
I don’t know if I truly have a HG item, I really go through stages of loving things. If I had to choose I guess it’d probably be my Real Techniques Makeup sponge because it has just made my foundation application soooo perfect.

Lightning round!

Lipstick finish – matte or shine? Matte!

Nail polish – solid colour or glitter? Soild!

Foundation – liquid, solid, or powder? Liquid!

Lip gloss or lip balm? Balm!

That was fun! I’d love to see others do it – and let me know in the comments if you do decide to take it on!

  1. Yay! Glad you did the tag. I’m impressed all your manicure stuff fits in one box. I can’t even remember when my stuff last fit in a single box, lol. Eyeprimer is definitely a game changer. Finding the perfect one is an almost never ending quest.

  2. I’ve been debating on if the Urban Decay palettes are worth it. They are so expensive so I’m trying not to fall for the hype. I need to go in store and check them out!

    • I don’t think I would buy the first or second one now that the basics palettes are out, but I do really love me Naked 3! I don’t use it nearly enough for how expensive it was, though. I think the only way I could justify something as expensive as it again is if it was a gift like the Naked 3 was.
