The Makeup Addict Tag

At the end of last month, Jenn posted her answers to The Makeup Addict Tag and I loved reading her responses so much that I immediately added it to my list of future blog posts, and this was the perfect fit for today!
1. Which product do you still keep buying more of despite having plenty in your collection?
Eyeshadow, especially nude eyeshadow palettes. I see a brown-ish shade (especially copper right now, gawd) and I go all must have it. I think I could live without ever buying another nude eyeshadow and I wouldn’t run out.
A selection of my eyeshadow, I still have a drawer for the singles and smaller palettes....

2. What’s the one product you can’t live without?
Concealer, absolutely. I have 7 different concealer’s on the go right now, plus a colour corrector. Heh…
My lovely acne-prone skin just needs it, though I’m definitely less concealer crazy than I was a few months ago. Or at least, I’m more lazy about it now.
3. Favorite makeup brand?
Have other people answered this questions successfully? Because I don’t feel like I could say this at all. I mean, right now I’m really enjoying L’Oreal, but I don’t have a favourite. I feel like in order to say I had a favourite I would have to try everything from every brand ever and that’s just not possible, plausible or something I ever want.
4. How big is your makeup collection?
It’s a good size. Non-beauty bloggers would call it excessive, beauty bloggers would probably go yup. I feel like it’s lacking a few things (cream blushes, looking at you) but it’s definitely in excess of others. *cough* lipstick *cough*
5. And how do you store it?
I have a set of acrylic drawers that I keep smaller things in – lipsticks and single eyeshadows – and a plastic drawer set that I keep face products and random bits and bobs in. I keep my larger palettes on my desk, my brushes in various round-ish containers and my mascaras and eye pencils in old candle jars. My nail polish is kept in a metal box with products I’m testing in an old memebox on top of it. I keep the hair products I’m using on my desk in an old Luxe Box…I’m not very happy with how it’s organized but I doubt I ever will be.
6. How many items of makeup have you got in your handbag at the moment?
Blotting papers (that I never use…), deodorant and a rollerball (do those count?) and a lipstick. I also usually have at least one lip balm in there but I cleaned it out recently. I love playing with makeup but if I have to maintain it throughout the day I get annoyed/I just won’t do it.

7. If you could raid another blogger’s stash, who would it be?
Ohhh this is fun. Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup would probably be on the top of my list because we like a lot of the same looks, but also Kayln’s, Julie’s (all the MAC), Chelle’s, Jenn’s…I could honestly probably list everyone on my bloglovin’ feed.
8. How long does your usual makeup routine take and how many products do you use?
It depends on how much I want to play vs do my quick every day look. It can be anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. (Usually closer to the 20 minutes unless I’m really focusing on covering up all my spots/doing an intense eye look.)
primer –> foundation –> eye primer –> eyeshadow (1-3) –> concealer –> eyeliner –> mascara –> brow pencil or powder –> powder to set concealer –> bronzer –> sometimes blush –> lipstick/balm/whatever –> setting spray. So…12-15? Yikes that’s a lot more than I thought.
9. Have you ever bought makeup knowing you wouldn’t use it?
No, the only makeup I ever buy is something I’m excited to try!

10. Tag a few other makeup addicts to do this tag!
Anyone who wants to do it can! Let me know if you decide to take it on 🙂

  1. Ergh, currently in my eyeshadow hoarding phase (even though I don’t use it up fast enough) and CONCEALER IS PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY THING I TECHNICALLY NEED. I don’t even own 7 concealers, but I’m on the hunt for good concealer since my NARS one is dying and the shade match is wonk at the moment (any ones you recommend?).
Strangely, I like your setup. It’s all in one place where it’s visible, versus mine tucked in acrylic trays housed in my dresser. Also, as a frequent guest at Jenn’s house, I can say her makeup is /everywhere/ LOL.

    • Drugstore-wise I’m really digging the L’Oreal True Match right now, and for higher end I LOVE the MUFE Full Cover Concealer. You need the tiniest amount and it’s really lovely. Though if I’m not careful it does accentuate my pores.

I like my set up for the most part as well, though I kind of want it to either be all in one larger set of drawers (something akin to the Ikea Alex but more inexpensive) or set up on a bookshelf in little trays so that it’s easy to grab. Ahhhh storage, I love it and hate it.
