Makeup Wardrobe: April 2016

Makeup Wardrobe April 2016 |

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Makeup Wardrobe post, so a bit of a refresher: basically, it’s a fancy way of showing off my monthly makeup favourites are. I’ve started to rejig my daily makeup every three to four weeks (or when I get bored of what I’m wearing) so I thought it would be fun to show what I’ve been using lately!

If there were a theme to this makeup wardrobe, it would be something along the lines of a nice base with little effort everywhere else. I was in finals mode for the majority of April so I wanted to look alive without having to spend a lot of time looking alive. And I have four lipsticks here but honestly…I maybe wore them each twice throughout the whole month. Lip balm was my BFF 😉

Marcelle BB Cream in Fair has been on my to finish list for a long time now. You’ll see it’s also featured in my latest Project Make a Dent and I swear it’s almost used up. This is a nice, very light coverage foundation. It’s nice on days when I don’t care and just want a little something on my skin – though it definitely doesn’t hide any imperfections.

Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Kit is a trio I thought I would love, but it turns out I feel pretty meh about it. All of the shades are matte, which is fine, but the “highlight” shade is the shade of my setting powder. So that didn’t get much use. 😉 I don’t really contour, despite trying to use this kit, so I ended up blending the bronzer and contour shades together to make a great matte bronzer.

Marcelle Perfect Brow in Medium to Dark* Oh boy oh boy I love this product!!! You’re going to see it again in a few weeks, where I will review it in more detail but it has the tiniest brush ever. It is PERFECT for my sparse brows – it gets every single hair and doesn’t get product all over my skin. Whoop whoop!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed I bought this in the recent VIB Sale and you can already see a little bit of wear in the embossing. That’s how much I’ve been using it. Exposed has quickly become my every day blush because it’s not too pink yet not too brown and it still gives my complexion some life.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Light I am uncertain how long I’ve had this powder, but I know that it used to be domed and is now flat. So that’s really exciting! I will be sad whenever I use it up though – it’s a really nice finishing powder because it’s not fully matte, but it also doesn’t have shimmer. It just breathes some life into my skin while also mattifying it. Yeah it’s a weird combination.

MAC Lipstick in Plumful I think Plumful will be forever my favourite MAC lipstick. It’s purple yet a really nice natural colour on me. I used to avoid it in the spring and pull it out in the fall, but I’ve recently realized that it’s totally spring-y too.

The Body Shop Color Crush Lipstick in 110 My perfect summer lipstick – orangey red, yet also kind of MLBB. It just brightens up my whole face and it’s super moisturizing, so it’s easy to wear.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Punch This came in a quad of deluxe samples that I got from Trysh during a Secret Santa exchange last year. They’re all pretty similar colours sadly, but it’s okay because I like the colour. 😉

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien I know a lot of people aren’t a fan of this shade, but it’s such an easy colour for me to wear! It’s just a little bit more brown than my natural lip colour, so I’ve been getting a lot of wear it.

And that’s an example of the look I would wear! Just with the lipstick changed, of course! (The one above is Plumful)

What’s in your everyday makeup look?

  1. Such a great lineup for an everyday look! I’ve been super curious to try the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder (as a slightly less expensive alternative to my beloved Hourglass powders) and wow- Plumful is perfect on you! 🙂
