I’m going to be doing a tiny bit of travelling for my new job, so of course I’ve been ecstatic to try to find the perfect travel-friendly cosmetic bits. Anything for some makeup, right? Well in today’s case, perhaps it should be makeup brushes, but I digress…
I’ve tried ecotools brushes before (the essential eye set) and was really happy with the quality, but I hadn’t branched out from my initial test. Luckily Farelyco was nice enough to send me the ecotools Day to Night Brush Set so I could give another set a try.
Five synthetic brushes are included in the ecotools Day to Night brush set:
- Lip Liner Brush
- Stay-There Shadow Brush
- Round Powder Brush
- Pointed Concealer Brush
- Smudge Brush
The set also includes a zippered pouch that folds down quite compactly. The pouch has a pretty leafy design on the outside in a metallic coppery brown shade and the inside is lined with what I think is plastic. The entire pouch is easy to wipe down in case of messy brushes while travelling.
This brush set is full-size, rather than a smaller travel-size like the essential eye set I have. I really appreciate that, personally – I like feeling the entire handle in my hand, it feels like I have more control over the brush, if that makes sense. These brushes feel great in my hands: they’re the perfect weight and the bamboo handles feel nice in my grip.
The brushes in the ecotools Day to Night brush set are soft and I haven’t experienced any shedding at all. I don’t know if a lip brush was really necessary in a travel set, though it’s also a great size for smaller concealing, so that’s what i use it for. The Pointed Concealer brush is perfect for under the eyes and around the nose – it gets into tight corners really easily! I enjoy both eye brushes a lot – the smudger is especially welcome in my collection as I personally don’t have a lot of brushes that size. But surprisingly for me, the Round Powder brush is my favourite. It’s a great multi-tasker that can be used for powder, blush, bronzer or highlight. A really great addition to any makeup lovers arsenal!
My one gripe with the ecotools Day to Night brush set is that I’m not sure how much it could do in the way of turning your day time makeup into night time makeup. If you’re going for a smokey eye, or anything a bit more complicated than two colours you’re going to need a few more brushes (a fluffy blending brush for starters). I do however think this is a great little travel set and I’m really pleased to add all five of these brushes to my brush arsenal.
Have you tried any great travel sets recently?
