There is very little that gets me as excited as skincare infused makeup, so when the new Vichy Teint Ideal range landed in my mail box I was so eager to tear into it. I received five pieces from the line, including the Teint Ideal Fluid Foundation, Teint Ideal Cream Foundation, Teint Ideal Compact Powder, Teint Ideal Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow and Teint Ideal Highlighter.
The Teint Ideal range is held beautifully in nude and gold packaging that feels high quality without feeling like a bag of marbles in your bag. The liquid foundation comes with a pump (which I honestly expect at this point) and the applicators included in both the bronzer and powder foundation are useful for putting product on your face. Pretty good, huh?
As I mentioned, this range contains skincare ingredients to improve your skin while you’re wearing makeup. You can find a full list of ingredients here, but the short of it is that these products contain hylaronic acid (for moisturizing) and vitamins C and E (for brightening).
Vichy Teint Ideal Compact Powder in Light
Powder foundations and I don’t often get along. I want more coverage out of my foundation that what I can often get out of a powder foundation without it looking cakey, and even though I have skin that leans more to the oily side of the combo-oily spectrum, powders rarely seem to work out for me. I thought that was just how powder foundations worked until I met the Teint Ideal Compact Powder. I was expecting to use this powder only as setting powder, as I do with my other powder foundations, but the first time I used it I was stunned.
This compact powder gave my skin an airbrushed look that I didn’t think was possible. My pores looked invisible, my skin looked flawless. You can see in the photo below from my Joe Fresh Fall 2016 Collection review what I mean – I have dolls skin with this makeup on!
The powder has a light to medium, buildable coverage with a natural, skin-like finish. I almost find I don’t need a setting spray with this powder (which I always use to get rid of the “powdery” look on my skin) and have skipped the setting spray more than I have in the past year before this. The powder is light feeling on the skin, I’d go so far as to say that it feels undetectable, and helps to keep me matte throughout the day. I still have blush on by the end of the day, which never happens without the powder, so that’s pretty dang impressive to me.
It’s just the slightest bit too dark for me which I notice more when I build up the coverage. I don’t find it’s that noticeable, especially when I blend it down my neck.
Have I raved about this enough? Maybe I should move on.
Vichy Teint Ideal Fluid Foundation in 15
Next up is the Vichy Teint Ideal Fluid Foundation in 15. This is the lightest shade available and is a bit dark for me, but not by much. It’s almost perfect.
The foundation doesn’t build up quite as much as the powder does so it definitely more of a light coverage than medium. The natural finish makes it look like you’re not wearing any makeup at all, so it’s perfect for every day. The Fluid Foundation is pretty luminous, but not in a greasy way. More in a dang, look at how healthy her skin is! way.
This foundation didn’t wow me quite as much as the powder, but I still really enjoy it, especially when I set it with the powder. That is my perfect combination, right there, and I have been wearing it just about every day since I got the set. You can see them workin together here in my recent Maison Jacynthe review.
Vichy Teint Ideal Cream Foundation in 15 Ivory
If you have dry skin, listen up because this one’s for you! The Vichy Teint Ideal Cream Foundation was made with you in mind, and is actually too moisturizing for me. It has a very similar coverage to the Fluid Foundation, and I believe it’s meant to have a similar finish as well, though on my oiler skin it’s definitely super luminous.
Funnily enough, this is actually the lightest out of the three foundations I have, even though they’re all the lightest shades. You can see swatches below of the three foundations.
Vichy Teint Ideal Highlighter
Would you be shocked to hear that I only own three highlighters, and that this is one of them? Yeah. I haven’t gotten that into the highlight craze because I’m so used to being paranoid about greasy skin, but since receiving the Vichy Teint Ideal Highlighter, I’ve worn it just about every day.
This little guy is a liquid, roll-on highlighter that is perfection on my fair skin. It’s a creamy white colour that blends into the skin so perfectly, it’s hard to overdo it. Liquid highlighters aren’t usually my fave (the others ones I have are powder), but I really really love this one. It’s so easy to use! I just roll a bit onto the skin, blend it out with my fingers and done!
It doesn’t last all day on me, which I think is a mixture of my skin type and the liquid format of the highlight.
Vichy Teint Ideal Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow
I haven’t been into bronzers as much as I used to be, but I still get excited whenever I get to try a new one. The Vichy Teint Ideal Bronzer in Sunkissed Glow is a warm terracotta shade that I have to use a very light hand with, or risk looking orange. It blends beautifully into the skin though, and I even like the little brush that comes with it.
I don’t use this one to contour with and I’m even a bit nervous to use it on the perimeter of my face – I’ve gotta blend it reaaaal well! It’s super pretty over the nose/tops of the cheeks and on the forehead though!
