It’s finally starting to feel like the holiday’s – maybe it’s because the semester is finally over, or the fact that Halifax actually has snow now, but I am officially ready to tuck into sugar cookies and apple cider over here. Luckily for us beauty lovers, that also means there are heaps of amazing holiday collections on the shelves now too, and I have a few of the goodies from the Quo Cosmetics Holiday Collection 2016 to share with you today.
I have four pieces from the rather large holiday collection to share:
- Quo Cosmetics Holiday Brow Beauty Eyebrow Kit – $20
- Quo Cosmetics Holiday All About Colour Eye Shadow Palette – $20
- Quo Cosmetics Holiday So Focus Highlighting Palette – $30
- Quo by ORLY Best of the Best 6-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set – $20
Quo Cosmetics Holiday Brow Beauty Eyebrow Kit
Every season, Quo Cosmetics comes out with a brow palette with limited edition packaging, and this one has the same shades as previous editions with a few little extras. This palette comes with three powders instead of the standard two: a dark brown, light brown and shimmery highlight. The light brown is unfortunately too warm for my eyebrows and the dark is just a little bit too dark so the palette takes some work for me to wear, but I love the shimmery highlight and clear wax included in this palette. The powders are soft and slightly powdery, but I don’t find they produce any fall out when I apply them.
The Brow Beauty Eyebrow Kit also comes with three tools: a pair of mini tweezers, and angled eyeliner/brow brush and a spoolie. The brushes are quite short so take a bit of getting used to, but I love that all three were included! Something completely new to me are the eyebrow stencils that Quo included in this palette – I had never used stencils before this so I was pretty excited to give them a go (though intimidated, not gonna lie). The stencils are pretty great, actually – three are three different sizes so you can choose the size that fits your brows the best and go from there. I still prefer to go at it freehand, but if you want to give stencils a try these are pretty great.
Quo Cosmetics Holiday All About Colour Eye Shadow Palette
If there is one thing that I have quickly come to love from Quo, it’s their powders. These eyeshadows have the same easy-to-use formula that I have come to expect from Quo: they’re slightly powdery, which makes them easy to blend, but don’t cause fall out. They’re decently pigmented too – not too much that you’ll be overwhelmed with pigment, but not too sheer that you have to spend hours building up the colour.
The All About Colour palette is an all-matte palette with a great mix of neutral browns, greys and plums. I prefer to use them in rows or to mix and match throughout the palette, but they all work together really nicely. The packaging of this palette is sturdy and feels more expensive than it is (something I always appreciate) and has a gigantic mirror.
The All About Colour palette isn’t a traditional holiday palette – there are no shimmery golds in this one! But I really like it, it feels fresh for the holidays.
Quo Cosmetics Holiday So Focus Highlighting Palette
Real talk…this palette is my favourite thing of everything I’ve tried. I’ve been looking for a highlighting palette (no, I didn’t own one yet!) but I’ve never felt like I could justify the cost without trying them first. After trying this palette, I can say that this palette is perfect. Most highlight shades are too dark for me – even most champagnes end up looking like a streak of bronze across my face – but the So Focus Highlighting palette has two highlighters in it that I can use as highlights! 🙌 🙌🙌
I like the formula of these powders too – very comparable to their other face palettes which I have grown to adore. The brushes included in this set are a huge win too! They’re both excellent for highlighting, and the angled brush is really nice for a powder contour as well.
Quo by ORLY Best of the Best 6-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set
Last, but certainly not least, we have the Quo by ORLY Best of the Best 6-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set. As someone who isn’t the greatest nail painter and has never used up a nail polish in her life, this is the perfect set for me. The bottles are itty bitty, but large enough that I still doubt I’ll ever go through them, and the shades are all very wearable!
I’m not a nail blogger though, so I’m not going to force you into seeing my awful paint job. (Seriously, polish gets all over my fingers). If you’d like swatches and a real nail bloggers opinion on this set, go check out Eithne’s post. She does beautiful swatches and I trust her opinion completely with my nail polish selections.
You can find all of these sets (and more) at Shoppers Drug Marts. And stay tuned for a makeup look next week using the makeup products!
