It seems like the worst of the winter is over in Halifax (knock on wood) but my skin is still a bit drier than normal. Well…it’s turned into more normal to combination than normal to oily like it is in the summer. February is such a blur! I feel like for the first half of the month I was in a stress/exhaustion blur and for the last week I’ve just been trying to rest and take it easy so that I can get through the rest of the term unscathed. I really haven’t explored much out of my usual routine since my January favourites, so this is another really tough favourites post for me to write so far as beauty products go. I’ve been super inspired by Natalie‘s Pantone Color of the Year series lately and I just had to pull out some of my own Rose Quartz and Serenity makeup. I don’t have very much Serenity/blue makeup, but I have quite a bit Rose Quartz/pink to play with.
I was stumped at first how to use the blue because pink is so easy to use in makeup but blue can look dated if you do it wrong. Then I saw Jenn‘s makeup look where she used blue on the lower lash line and boom! Inspiration struck.
If you read my 2015 Favourites post, you’ll remember that Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation got my top foundation of the year title. It’s a well loved foundation but I haven’t seen many comparison posts between it and the newer Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation. With all of the brow products on the market it’s easy to get lost and not know where to go with your arches. I’m a bit brow obsessed and change my brow routine up depending on my mood, makeup look and what is going on that day. On Valentine’s Day Dylan and I went for a walk in the cold and – surprise! – ended up at David’s Tea. I’d been avoiding it since I saw the Aquamarine Cat Perfect Mug because…well I had to have it, let’s be honest. It’s cats. I also ended up walking out with far more than I anticipated including a little bit of the new Apple Strudel Black Tea. And a few others but we’ll leave that for another post. 😉 Continue reading
Way back in October I had a terrible incident where a bunch of my lipsticks melted from their place on my bookshelves. I was absolutely gutted to lose my Red Apple Lipstick lippie in Pinkle Twinkle – I didn’t wear it often, but it was a beautiful soft violet and I didn’t have anything like it. When Red Apple Lipstick saw my post lamenting it on Facebook, they offered to send me a replacement lipstick. I was blown away – I have never seen a company offer to replace something that broke, especially because it had been a blogger sample anyway. Continue reading
