Longing for Fall with MAC Craving

During the last month of every season I start to eagerly anticipate the next one. If not the weather or what life will bring, I certainly get excited for changing up my makeup (and to a much lesser extent, my wardrobe). For fall, it’s all about lipsticks. My favourite lipsticks are almost always the darker ones (okay, let’s not count my Clinique obsession for this one…) and as MAC Craving is my most recent acquisition, it’s the one I’m most excited to wear to death.

Zoë and I actually each bought one of these gorgeous beauties the last time she was in Halifax, so we decided that we needed to display our lipstick twin-ness with posts on the same day. She’s written a full review so I decided I’d accompany her post with a makeup look/tutorial.

Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala – August 2015

Thursday evening I went to the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala at the Spring Garden Road location and while I forgot to my camera to take photos at the actual event, I thought I would do a little recap anyway.

For those of you who have never been to one of the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Gala’s they can be quite fun. Your ticket costs $10 – $5 of that goes towards their Look Good Feel Better charity and the other $5 is your ticket. Your ticket includes a $5 coupon, a makeover and/or skin consultation, a goodie bag, snacks and an entry into their giveaways for more goodies.

There were three makeup artists to chose from for my makeover, one each representing Stila, Benefit and Lise Watier. I’ve tried a few Benefit items before, own one eye palette from Lise Watier but have never tried Stila. I would have loved to get my makeup done with any of the products but chose Lise Watier – I love that they’re a Canadian brand and I’ve been eyeing up their corrector palette for about six months, so I wanted to see it in action. My makeup artist was a delight to chat to and was excited when I told her that I wanted something colourful.

Beauty Guide: The Five Minute Face

This post contains products that were sent to me for my consideration. Go here for my disclosure policy.

A reader recently requested I do a post on a makeup tutorial based more towards beginners, and I am more than happy to oblige! I was aiming for a 5 product face, but that didn’t quite happen, so instead I’m going for a five(ish) minute face.

Acne Busters: Paula’s Choice

Acne Busters: Paula's Choice

Every once in a while I stumble across some skincare that I enjoy either for how it makes my skin feel or how it reduces my breakouts, but I’ve never found something that I have fallen head over heels in love for. Enter Paula’s Choice. I ordered their two week acne trial kit after hearing so many good things about the brand from beauty vloggers like MakeupTIA and within a week I knew: this was going to be a long term relationship between Paula’s Choice and I. Guest Post: Worth the Splurge with Shaylee

Hey everyone, it’s Shaylee from Cosmetically Curious posting here on the lovely Jodi’s blog! I’m so excited to be able to guest post for one of my favourite blogs to read and I’m especially excited to write about one of my favourite topics… things that are worth the splurge! It actually took me a lot of time to decide what I wanted to write about. Initially, I was drawn to skin care since I’ve spent the most money (at one time) on things like Serums and Moisturizers. But then I decided that I should dig through my stash and find things that I really knew were worth the money I’ve spent on them.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette

That’s how I came to this lovely palette. This is the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye palette. It’s one of my newer palette purchases and I was a bit on the fence about it at first, but I must say, now that I have it I don’t know what I would do without it! Continue reading

Sunscreen for Days

This post contains products that were sent to me for my consideration. Go here for my disclosure policy.

I don’t know about where you are, but in Halifax it is hot. After a weekend spent ducking into anywhere that had air conditioning and ingesting an impossible amount of iced drinks, I thought it was about time I wrote about my favourite sunscreen products. Summer doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon, so we’re going to absolutely need to keep plastering it on every inch of exposed skin in the (sometimes very awful) stuff. But I’ve been hunting for the good bottles and I think I’ve stumbled across some of the best sunscreen on the market for face and body.

Annabelle Cosmetics Autumn 2015 Launches: Eyeliners

This post contains products that were sent to me for my consideration. Go here for my disclosure policy.

How could Annabelle release their Smokey Nudes eyeshadow palette without including some new eyeliners too? Well, they couldn’t, of course and I’m hear to share my thoughts on some of their new releases today! Continue reading
