Spring Pastel Nails with Angela

Hi everyone! I’m Angela over at Do Want Makeup, guest posting today on Jodi’s lovely blog. April’s guest post theme is pastels, and obviously, my thoughts immediately went to nail polish! I’ve been on the lookout for some time for a pale, dusty blue polish and I’m so happy with the one I’m featuring today in some pretty, spring-appropriate nail art:

CBB Guest Post: Pastel Smokey Eye on Classy on the Run!

Hi everyone! I’m guest posting over on Alanna‘s blog today for the Canadian Beauty Blogger’s monthly post swap! The theme was pastels and while I definitely almost slapped purple all over my body and called it a day, I decided to attempt a very colourful smokey eye instead. I think you might be able to tell just how uncharacteristic it was just by looking at the eyeshadow palette I used below! (It’s Lise Watier’s Eden Tropical palette, for those of you wondering!)

REVIEW | Maybelline Rebel Bloom Color Tattoos in Black Orchid & Petunia Punk

Maybelline Color Tattoos in Black Orchid & Petunia Punk

When I first saw Maybelline’s Limited Edition Rebel Bloom Color Tattoos, I was pretty underwhelmed. Nothing in the collection really screamed buy me…though now that I’ve looked again I am wondering what exactly is wrong with me. Maybe it was all the snow that keeps appearing in Halifax, or maybe I just wasn’t in a makeup-y mood but spring is certainly calling to me right now and this collection answered. Namely in the way of the Black Orchid and Petunia Punk.

I’m so excited to share a new-to me independent Canadian company – SST Cosmetics! The brand has a focus on formulation and colour selection thanks to their founder, makeup artist Sharon Sharep-Titus. The brand’s aim is to use quality ingredients without harsh chemicals to help it’s consumers put their best face forward. AKA they want your skin to look like skin, your lips to look like your lips and you to shine your brightest. Sounds just about perfect, right?

Tub Time feat. LUSH Bubblegrub Bubbleroon

Tub Time feat. LUSH Bubblegrub Bubbleroon

When I went into LUSH to pick up a new Honey Bee Bath Bomb I was certainly not planning on picking up any of their spring collection, but then I saw the Bubblegrub Bubbleroon and I just couldn’t help myself! Inspired by The Very Hungry Catterpillar (a childhood favourite), with chocolate eyes and a bonus of being just ADORABLE, I couldn’t resist. The Concealer Library

The Concealer Library

For those of us with less than perfect skin, concealer is a must-have in our makeup collection. Between dark circles, acne (and the subsequent scarring), not to mention over-sized pores and fine lines that are starting to form (sigh) my skin is definitely a challenge to cover up. Over the past year I have been obsessed with finding the perfect concealer – one that will cover up all of that yuckiness without settling into any of those fine lines or pores. AKA a miracle worker that, as it turns out, doesn’t exist in one form, but in several. Continue reading

REVIEW | Aveeno Fresh Essentials Skincare #FreshEssentials

This post contains products that were sent to me for my consideration. Go here for my disclosure policy.

I hate to admit it, but before trying out the Aveeno Fresh Essentials line, I had only ever tried one Aveeno skin care item before – an anti-aging eye cream. I love their hand and body lotions, but for some reason it had never occurred to me to try out anything for my face.

The Fresh Essentials line in particular was designed to combat stressors to the skin – whether that be environmental or poor diet. Essentially, Aveeno wants to make it easier for folks living hectic lifestyles to have bright, nourished looking skin. The products contain an ingredient I haven’t encountered before this called Southernwood Extract, which is supposed to help protect your skin from become dried out thanks to environmental stress. I did some research and didn’t find anything on any skincare benefits from Southernwood Extract, though it’s supposed to be good in tea. So despite not knowing if this Southernwood Extract is actually beneficial to the skin or not, I’ve got to say that I’ve been really enjoying the products in this line.
