A Travel Beauty Roundup: Skincare, Hygiene, Haircare & Tools

I have been collecting travel beauty bits and bobs for the past few months in the hope that I could do a round up before the end of summer, but little did I know that this is going to actually be useful for me next month! I am unexpectedly travelling to Toronto in September and then San Francisco in October for my new job so this process has been an exciting little bit of research for my own uses as well. I’ve collected an array of travel beauty bits to include in this post and hope to do a more in-depth post on what I’m taking in my makeup bag come September, so let’s just dig right in!

Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream in 510 Fair Review, Swatches & FOTD

I am forever on the quest for the perfect foundation for every day wear. I liked the Marcelle BB Cream, but it didn’t quite have enough coverage for me. So after I heard so many other bloggers rave about the new Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream I had snag it.

I was a bit nervous about the shade selection in the drugstore – the lightest shade (510 fair) looked pretty yellow and much darker than most fair foundations I’ve seen. But I had Optimum Points to spend, so I decided to try it anyway.  Continue reading

What is the Best Makeup Remover?

With so many different kinds, it is difficult to know what the best makeup remover for you may be. I’ve been trying different brands, different types, different price points…and I’ve learned that honestly, it a day by day basis. (At least for this makeup junkie.) That’s why I thought it was about time I created a post outlining the pros and cons of different types of makeup removers so that you can decide what the best makeup remover is for you without having to spend the big bucks.

ecotools Day to Night Brush Set Review

I’m going to be doing a tiny bit of travelling for my new job, so of course I’ve been ecstatic to try to find the perfect travel-friendly cosmetic bits. Anything for some makeup, right? Well in today’s case, perhaps it should be makeup brushes, but I digress…

I’ve tried ecotools brushes before (the essential eye set) and was really happy with the quality, but I hadn’t branched out from my initial test. Luckily Farelyco was nice enough to send me the ecotools Day to Night Brush Set so I could give another set a try.

Derma MD Charcoal Mud Purifying Mask

Charcoal masks are everywhere now, varying in price from drugstore to high end, but I find it’s difficult to find one that really works. I’ve used many that get tight and suck all of the moisture out of my skin, but to actually get into the pores and get the gunk out? It’s pretty rare. The Derma MD Charcoal Mud Purifying Mask is one of those rare gems that gets deep into my pores to clean ’em right out.

Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipsticks

Maybelline Loaded Bolds Lipsticks | uptherollercoaster.com

My favourite ever lipsticks are by Maybelline and one day I truly believe that I will own every one of their lipsticks. So you can imagine my excitement when the Maybelline Loaded Bolds lipstick line hit the Canadian drugstore shelves earlier this summer. The Loaded Bolds line is full of bold, vampy lipsticks in colours that have both dark reds and berries as well as shades you wouldn’t normally find like greige, purple and a limited edition navy blue that I am dying to get my hands on. Sibu Beauty Sea Berry Therapy Polishing Facial Cleanser, Nourishing Face Cream & Age Defying Eye Cream

Sibu Beauty is one of those brands that I’ve heard people talk about for years but had never tried myself. It was always on my radar as a good-for-you brand and the sea berry/sea buckthorn always intrigued me because it’s supposed to be very good for acne-prone skin. I’ve finally got my hands on a trio of goodies from Sibu that I’m very excited to share with you today!

Making Perfume Travel Friendly with Travalo

I’m a very picky perfume user. I don’t like anything too floral or too strong…and if I’m going to actually use it it has to be portable. I may remember to use it in the morning, but there’s no way I’m going to take a glass bottle with me throughout the day, so I usually favour roller balls. Luckily for me, the folks at Travalo have thought of a way to fix this issue: a travel-size fragrance atomizer. Now I can take my custom-made fragrance with me everywhere!

The Travalo

Travalo makes a whole whack of different models of their atmomizer,  starting at $13 and going up from there. I have the Classic HD model in black to share with you today. The Travalo Classic is a sleek tube that reminds me of a lipstick bullet in shape and size. It’s the perfect size for fitting in a purse or carry-on luggage. Continue reading

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Berry

The first time I tried one of the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment balms was when I got me makeup done at Sephora for my engagement photos. The makeup artist applied the clear balm to my lips and I definitely noticed the fresh, lemony scent but was more excited by how amazing it felt on my lips. Ever since then I knew I had to get my hands on some of the balms for myself. Unfortunately, I refuse to buy any more lip balms until I completely use up my current (never ending) stash, so I knew it would be a while before I could own one of these beauties myself. Luckily Zoe (who is more obsessed with the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments than I am) knows how much I love them, and gave me three minis to me when we saw each other recently.
